The highly anticipated new nightclub from Hakkasan Group Jewel at Aria opens May 19 with host Jamie Foxx and music from DJ Irie, and The Chainsmokers play there on the following Saturday. But still no word on who the special guest performer will be on Friday night, May 20. During a recent media tour of the club, Vice President of Entertainment James Algate said the performer will be one who doesn’t play Vegas often, which should make for a memorable night.

DJ 88 keeps making moves. Expect a special edition of her Pop Up series at Ghostbar next month, but she’s already announced the evolution of these musical parties with the first Pop Up Live event at the House of Blues on July 29—a concert by fast-rising singer/rapper Anderson .Paak and his band the Free Nationals. Tickets are on sale now.

If you went to the Gold Spike Wednesday night, you already know this: Down & Derby, the easygoing Downtown hot spot’s discotacular party on wheels, has expanded to a second night every month. The musical backyard skating event now rolls into the Spike every first and third Wednesday. Entry and skate “rental” are still free.

Just across Fourth Street, Downtown Grand has added some new night entertainment, as well. The resort’s newly refashioned Citrus rooftop pool environment will debut a weekly residency from Vegas lounge favorite Zowie Bowie on Friday, May 13 at 10 p.m. and every Friday after that. The 35,000-square-foot venue offers an array of concerts and DJs on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Beer Park at Paris Las Vegas took advantage of Cinco de Mayo by kicking off its new Thirsty Thursdays locals night, offering new specials just for locals from 9 p.m. to midnight every Thursday. Two-for-one appetizers and draft beer specials are among the offerings for those with local IDs who trip to the Strip.

Distill, the local bar with locations in Summerlin and Southern Highlands, will host an ‘80s-themed party at both locations on May 21 at 8 p.m. A DJ will be spinning hits from everyone’s favorite decade and there’ll be drink specials galore, but no cover … unless you count the cost of your Aqua Net and legwarmers.
